All Floridians...Redistricting maps are in-Please Review!

We have been asked by our Florida Republican Senators to provide positive feedback and support for the proposed state senate redistricting plan S000S9004 to help offset the torrent of negative democrat-led comments. If you could please take the time to review the maps and provide any positive feedback in one of the ways below before Tuesday, December 6, 2011.

The Florida Senate staff released two of its proposed redistricting maps.

The Senate press release: Drawing on 157 redistricting maps submitted by
citizens and on testimony by more than 1,600 people across the state, the Florida Senate today published proposed redistricting plans for congressional and senate districts. The plans, which can be found at www.flsenate.gov/redistricting, will define boundaries for voting districts for the next ten years, beginning with the 2012 elections.

All Floridians are encouraged to review the proposed redistricting plans and provide their comments and suggestions.

The proposals were developed by the Senate Reapportionment Committee based on bipartisan guidelines agreed to by all 24 of the Democrats and Republicans on the committee. All directions to staff and committee procedures have been agreed to in a bipartisan manner by the Senate Majority Leader, Andy Gardiner, and the Senate Minority Leader, Nan Rich. Also agreed to unanimously were instructions to staff to preserve minorities' access to the political system and avoid retrogression.

If you can possibly say something nice about the plan, and/or get someone else to, please take just a moment to do so in one or more of the following ways:

· Calling 850-487-5757 or 855-FLA-MAPS toll free.
· Visiting the committee’s Facebookpage (search for “Florida Senate Reapportionment Committee”)
· Emailing RedistrictFlorida@flsenate.gov
· Sending a “tweet” to @Redistrict2012
· Posting video feedback on the committee’s YouTubepage at www.youtube.com/SenateRedistricting
· Writing the committee at 103 Senate Office Building, 404 South Monroe Street, Tallahassee, Florida, 32399
· Attending the December 6 meeting in person

STATEMENT FROM RPOF VICE CHAIRMAN LENNY CURRY

With sadness and a heavy heart, I must report that Florida has lost a great leader and public servant. Today, the Republican Party of Florida’s Chairman Dave Bitner lost his courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).It has been the honor of a lifetime to work by Chairman Bitner’s side. Not only was Dave a born leader, he was an exemplary man in every sense. In honor of his example, I am committed to ensure that the Republican Party of Florida continues its tradition of service to our beloved state.I ask all Floridians to join me in offering our thoughts and prayers for Dave and his remarkable wife Wendy. Through Dave’s battle with ALS, I watched as Wendy was the embodiment of love and compassion. I pray that Dave enjoy the peace that comes from our God, and that Wendy feel God’s love and strength in this time of grief.
