Florida Senate brings transparency to budget process, posts state budget online

It is over a month old, but have you heard about it...

The Florida Senate unveiled Transparency Florida on January 20, 2010. This is an initiative to make every level of the state’s budget available to Floridians online with an easy-to-navigate website. The site provides Floridians unprecedented access to explore the state’s operating budget and expenditures in real time, providing you the opportunity to see exactly how your tax dollars are being spent. The initiative will turn Florida’s nearly 19 million citizens into independent auditors, able to drill down into agency budgets. Just as Floridians can track their own banking online, they can now logon and do the same with their tax dollars. Former Florida Governor Reubin Askew brought sunshine to state government over 40 years ago. Since then, Florida has had government in the sunshine, but unfortunately, spending has remained in the shade. The roll out of Transparency Florida will truly bring the state’s budget process into the sunshine for all Floridians to see. Click here to read more about Transparency Florida.

Please take a moment today to visit Transparency Florida on the web at http://www.TransparencyFlorida.gov. There you will find a number of ways to explore the state’s budget, as well as a guided tour that will help you to navigate the site’s features.

This information was obtained from Senator Mike Haridopolos website. Senator Mike Haridopolos represents Florida's Senate District 26 and recommends if you have any questions or comments about the Transparency Florida site or about the Florida state budget to send him an email at mike@senatormike.com

Greer resigns as Chairman of RPOF

Ladies and Gentlemen,
On our RPOF county chairman call today, Chairman Jim Greer. He will be "putting the party first" and he is resigning effective 2/20/10. He will call a special meeting that Saturday in the effort to elect a new chairman of the Republican party and will excercise all authority until then.

He says the internal discords that have been going on have many political agenda's and at times he has to remain silent. He loves this party and all of our hard work and dedication will continue. He did not take any questions from us this afternoon, but will be at our Quarterly meeting on Saturday.

He says remember everyone that no one should ever win but the party! Not any individual.
